Indiana limestone is primarily quarried in south-central Indiana between the cities of Bloomington and Bedford. It is recognized as the highest quality quarried limestone in the United States and its beauty and durability make it an excellent building material, well suited for custom carving, architectural finishes, and sustainable construction applications.
Since 1928, the Indiana Limestone Institute of America (ILIA) has been an active advocate for the Indiana limestone industry. As a key supporter and influencer, ILIA provides education, technical expertise and problem solving that facilitates the usage of Indiana limestone. ILIA has 90 members in 22 states and Canada who support its efforts.
