Dan Roberts is manager of Bybee Stone Tools. After he receives a customer’s specifications – drawings or patterns – he hand fabricates each tool using steel shanks and carbide for the cutting edges. He insists that there’s nothing standard when it comes to profiles in the stone business – there’s always something different.

Laser Scanning

Bybee Stone Company has the capability to laser scan physical objects, and digitally edit them to produce sections, elevations, detailed full-size patterns, and whatever else might be necessary for the job.  This cutting edge technology allows us to take anything from a scaled down clay or plaster model to a piece of existing stone that needs to be precisely replicated, and accurately produce a digital version of the work. 

Besides producing full-size patterns, these 3d models can also be used to create a CNC program - for milling on our cutting edge CNC machine, or for quickly and easily sharing via email with a client, so that they can interact with a design in 3d.  With one foot firmly rooted in time honored classical fabrication techniques, and the other on the cutting edge of new technologies, Bybee Stone Company is fully capable of tackling any job, regardless of scale or complexity.
